Robert (Bob) Bloom is a Senior Audit Manager at Raffa, and has more than 30 years of financial advisory experience serving a variety of not-for-profit organizations. He assists in the training of audit staff and directs many of the firm’s audit engagements, particularly with community-based organizations, performing arts, private schools; foundations, and in health-related industries. Mr. Bloom’s current clients include BrightFocus Foundation, Rebuilding together, Inc. (National Headquarters), The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, the National Council for Behavioral Health, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Transit Employees’ Retirement Plan and Health & Welfare Plan and the Washington DC Jewish Community Center.

Prior to joining Raffa, Mr. Bloom was an interim CFO of a not-for-profit organization in 2003 and 2004, and from 1993 to 2002, he served as Vice President of Finance for technology companies, a venture capital fund, and pharmacy benefit manager. Mr. Bloom has over 12 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was one of the industry leaders in the not-for-profit practice in Washington, DC serving nonprofit organizations, health care, and federal, state and local governments. He was responsible for the audits of many of their largest nonprofit clients including Georgetown University Hospital, the Smithsonian Institution and the District of Columbia. In addition to his auditing engagements, Mr. Bloom has made presentations to Audit and Executive Committees and Boards of Directors of other nonprofit organizations and has been a presenter and instructor for the Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants and is currently the presenter for Raffa’s Learning Community, as well as an instructor for the Firm’s internal courses on nonprofit financial statements, employee benefit plans, accounting for investments and endowment funds.

Mr. Bloom is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the District of Columbia and a member of the AICPA. Mr. Bloom graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from George Washington University. Mr. Bloom serves on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation of Washington and is a member of the Audit and Finance Committees and is the Chair of the Pension Committee.
