National Industries for the Blind Announces New Board Members

Board Elects New Chairman and Vice Chairman

March 17, 2015, ALEXANDRIA, VA – National Industries for the Blind (NIB), the nation’s largest employment resource for people who are blind, elected new board officers and directors during its annual meeting of directors. Louis Jablonski, Jr. was elected chairman and William (Bill) Carty was elected vice chairman. Jablonski and Carty will lead a 20-member board representing the corporate and nonprofit sectors.

Jablonski served on the NIB Board since 2009. In 2009, Jablonski retired as executive vice president and general manager of KGB, the world's largest independent provider of directory assistance and enhanced information services. As a senior executive with more than 25 years’ experience in the public and private sectors, Jablonski has directed major business turnarounds, delivered corporate growth approaching $1 billion, executed cost containment initiatives and has been the architect of strategic alliances.

Carty, an NIB Board member since 2014, retired last year as general manager and vice president of the Systems Support Group for Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NGC) Technical Services sector. Carty leads the group that provides world-class base support, infrastructure services, range operations and maintenance services throughout the United States and internationally. Carty previously served as vice president and controller for the NGC's Technical Services sector and has 29 years of experience in finance and business management in the federal and commercial markets.

Three new private sector members were elected:

  • Robert Bloom, senior audit manager, Raffa
  • Susan Markel, managing director, AlixPartners
  • Susan Mustacchio, retired human resources executive

Two new members from NIB’s nationwide network of associated nonprofit agencies were elected:

  • Kenneth Fernald, president and CEO, Association for Vision Rehabilitation and Employment (A.V.R.E.), Binghamton, New York
  • Karen Walls, president, MidWest Enterprises for the Blind, Kalamazoo, Michigan

Jeanne Morin, a consultant with Akerman Senterfitt, and Eric Steuckrath, president and CEO of Outlook Nebraska, were re-elected to the NIB Board to four-year terms. Morin was elected secretary/treasurer.
