Waiver

Decision by NIB, in coordination with the associated agency, not to put a specific item in production in any NIB associated agency; term may also apply to changes or deviations to specifications or purchase descriptions.

Walsh-Healy Act

Requires contractors for supplies in excess of $10,000 to be a manufacturer or regular dealer; specifies such matters as minimum wages, maximum hours, child labor, convict labor, and safe and sanitary working conditions.

Work Instruction

Level IV documents; describe steps of a particular task.

Work Measurement

The process of determining the amount of time it takes a worker who does not have a disability to perform an operation or an element of an operation using a prescribed method. This amount of time becomes the "standard" against which the productivity of the worker with a disability is compared to determine the commensurate wage.

Work Restriction

Medically-directed restriction of specific physical activities

Work Sample

Simulated job or job element performed during a period of time and designed to measure a specific work ability.
