Statement Regarding the August 14, 2026, U.S. General Services Administration Letter to the U.S. AbilityOne Commission
National Industries for the Blind (NIB) received a copy of the August 14, 2026, U.S. General Services Administration letter to the U.S. AbilityOne Commission. NIB welcomes the recommended audit and fully supports the Administration’s commitment to ensuring that taxpayer dollars support American workers and American manufacturing activities.
We want to be unambiguous: NIB has complied with all the directives issued by the U.S. AbilityOne Commission and the laws governing the AbilityOne Program. Our supply chain is rooted in America. Just like American commercial firms, certain materials and components are sourced globally, and our products are manufactured, assembled, packaged, and/or distributed in the United States by Americans who are blind or have significant disabilities, generating employment and economic opportunity in communities across the country.
The more than 41,000 Americans who are blind or significantly disabled who have found meaningful employment through this program deserve a system that is transparent, accountable, and worthy of public trust. We are confident that a thorough review will affirm the integrity of the program and the vital role it plays in creating employment opportunities for Americans who are blind.
