Ed Welsh is president and chief executive officer of the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) in Utica, New York. CABVI provides employment in its industries programs located in Utica and Syracuse, a call center and office supply stores located on military installations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In addition, CABVI provides comprehensive rehabilitation services and employment for people who are blind or visually impaired. Services include low vision care, vision rehabilitation treatment, orientation and mobility, occupational therapy, pre-school vision screenings, educational services, technology training and adaptive sports and recreation programs.
Earlier, Mr. Welsh was regional general manager of AAA Northeast. He is president of the Blind Employment Network of New York, Board member of the New York Vision Rehabilitation Association and past chairperson of the New York State Thruway Committee of the New York State Automobile Association. He served as an Oneida County legislator, as past chairperson of the Oneida County Economic Development and Tourism Committee, vice chairperson of the Oneida County Government Reform Committee and Oneida County Board of Legislators.
